Starting their 20th anniversary year as they mean to go on, owners Michelle and Pietro Catalano were thrilled to be crowned Best Restaurant of the Year at the Lincolnshire Life Taste of Excellence Awards – the latest in an impressive list of accolades – the UK’s funkiest bed and breakfast as awarded by the AA, as well as its place in the Michelin Guide, named as one of Lincolnshire’s only destination restaurants.

A fitting way to start our 20th anniversary year
“The win is a very fitting way to start our 20th year and really reflects that San Pietro is at the top of its game,” said managing director, Michelle.
“It’s a great achievement for the team and a testament to what we’ve created over the last two decades. Bringing food lovers the sophistication of fine dining mixed with the heart and soul of Sicily, we’re proud to fly the flag for Lincolnshire and all it has to offer.”
Watched over by this tenacious husband and wife team, San Pietro and its dedicated team combines comfort with luxury, fine dining with dishes that are just like ‘mama used to make’, ensuring the restaurant is a perfect choice no matter the occasion – be it a big celebration or a working lunch.
Staying true to his Sicilian heritage and a passion for artisanal produce that has been passed down through myriad generations, Pietro and his accomplished chefs focus on quality and authenticity in the kitchen.
Harking back to a childhood spent in the sunshine, surrounded by olive groves, Pietro takes inspiration from the meals he enjoyed with family, in his hometown of Villalba. No stranger to a Michelin star, having worked with Giorgio Locatelli during his career, Pietro has passed this experience on to his talented team, so that together they can breathe life into unique dishes that effortlessly pair Pietro’s nostalgic love of traditional Sicilian fayre with contemporary, innovative, gourmet plates.
Every bite, every detail, is designed to wow diners. And that doesn’t just apply to the 2AA Rosette food. The interiors and surroundings at San Pietro are just as considered as the menu. From the stunning exterior of the windmill with its onion-shaped ogee and ball finial to the intimate bar area with plush velvets and dark corners that are begging to be enjoyed with a cocktail or bottle from the curated wine list, not forgetting the sleek, stylish restaurant area, complete with crisp white table cloths and gilded details that ad a certain gloss to the space.
With 14 boutique-style rooms onsite, there’s no need to return to reality either – not until after a seriously good night’s sleep at least. Stay in San Pietro’s very own version of Sicily a little longer and enjoy a stunning, individually designed room, cloud-like Hypnose bed, rainfall shower and Molton Brown toiletries, smart TV, and Wi-Fi. On a sunny afternoon head to the courtyard grounds to soak up a real taste of the Mediterranean in the heart of Lincolnshire or explore some more of what this stunning county has to offer – from the industrious centre of Scunthorpe itself to the vast expanses of coastline and the rolling hills of the Lincolnshire Wolds AONB.
With its rich heritage, historic location and award-winning dining experience, it’s easy to see why San Pietro has also become known for hosting Insta-worthy, intimate weddings. Held in the iconic windmill, or the venue’s additional two function suites, San Pietro offers bespoke event packages to make your dream celebration a reality.
