Having added to our calendar of events this year, hosting many that were totally new ideas for us, your response to them all has to be here in our highlights.
Once spring had well as truly touched down, and Mr Blue Sky was back a bit more often than not, we began work on refreshing our outdoor space. With a clear concept in mind, bringing you an experience that would transport you to dining under the lemon trees of Sicily, we pulled together our Giardino! The il pezzo forte was the arrival of our Manna Forni Pizza Oven!
Bringing the taste of Sicilian pizza to Scunthorpe, the oven was put through its paces this summer as you guys filled the Giardino but there were two days in particular that saw the garden really come into its own. Both firsts for San Pietro, our Ferrari Day – when the car park filled up with Italian beauties – and White Party – akin to the closing parties that take place on the White Isle – are absolutely up there in our most memorable 2024 moments.
A big shout out to the wedding and events team who outdid themselves this year, with a casual 26 weddings and over 100 other celebrations taking place. Being your venue of choice when it comes to celebrating those once-in-a-lifetime milestones is a privilege we never take for granted.
Fundraising
Our annual Lady Garden event returned in 2024, raising hundreds for The Lady Garden Foundation and Cancer Research. While, January’s Burns Night was dedicated to raising money for Macmillan Cancer support.
Accolades
There are so many positives we are taking into 2025 with us – and don’t forget you can join us on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day to start the year as you mean to go on too – but the accolades and awards experiences we have had are certainly one thing we will be taking into the new year.
Absolutely a testimony of the strength and talent of our team, we began the year with two citations from the AA – Breakfast Award and four-star Quality Inspected. Always a feather in our cap, these industry accreditations place value on quality and the highest of standards, two things we work very hard to uphold all year around.
Similarly, we have been thrilled to see San Pietro ranking in first place on TripAdvisor on numerous occasions. Entirely down to our customer’s experience when they come here, your continued support is something we couldn’t survive without, so a huge thankyou for always letting us know we’ve done a good job. We also found ourselves nominated by The Good Food Guide twice, once in Best Sunday Roasts 2024 and once in Best Local Restaurants for 2024.
As for awards, well… if it wasn’t enough to be shortlisted and be a finalist in the Best Hotel and Best Restaurant categories at the Lincolnshire Life Taste of Excellence Awards – and also be awarded a gold citation in the Best Restaurant category – we are thrilled to have been shortlisted in The Tourism Excellence Awards for Greater Lincolnshire and Rutland. Hosted by Destination Lincolnshire, we will find out in February if we have indeed been crowned the winner of the Taste of Lincolnshire and Rutland category; a win which will then see San Pietro put forward to the national judging panel of the Visit England Awards for Excellence 2025.
So much work has been going on behind closed doors to make improvements at San Pietro, all to the benefit of our customers as well as our team. From our approaches to accessibility and sustainability, as well as our dedicated to bringing our customers the very best, every time they visit, 2024 has definitely been one for the books.
So, here’s to 2025… who knows what this year will bring!
