Meet The Team | Enrico Podda

A familiar face here at San Pietro, sit down with Enrico, discover his favourite pasta dish, learn about his time in London and what he most loves about working in North Lincolnshire...

Next up in our Meet the Team series, and this one should be a very familiar face to so many of our guests and customers! It’s time to meet Enrico Podda.

Born and raised in Sardinia, Enrico is the youngest of brothers, all of whom left Sardinia to explore a career in hospitality in London. Enrico came to London in 2014, but after several months really wasn’t enjoying the city. After an opportune meeting with Piero’s cousin he decided to pay us a visit and the rest is history. He joined the team on 1st May 2015 and has been one of the welcoming faces of San Pietro ever since.

Enrico is passionate about food and wine – of course, being an Italian these things are very important part of life. Italians take dining very seriously, almost as seriously as how it is served! Enrico trained in Sardinian as a waiter, where hospitality is regarded as an admirable career and delivering great service is something to be proud of. Enrico has brought this experience to the front of house team at San Pietro and he has that perfect mix of friendliness with professionalism, ensuring all of our guest have a great experience.

What is your favourite pasta dish?
Well – being Sardinian it has to be something with fish and I’ve got to say the new Malloreddus pasta with mussels, fiorelli and bottarga. This definitely my kind of dish and I think it will be my new favourite, but as a classic, you can’t beat a really good carbonara – absolutely no cream though!

Why do you enjoy working at San Pietro?
Every day is different, there is always something going on – an event, an occasion, a new menu. My role is very varied and dynamic, and I love that. I love working closely with the kitchen and the floor team, being part of our customer’s lives as they celebrate their special occasions. It makes me very proud.

I have been fortunate to have the opportunity to train and specialise in wines and cheese. This has been a great personal achievement for me and I love sharing this knowledge with our customers and the team.
I can’t believe I’ve been here almost 10 years now – time has really flown and I’m looking forward to the future and all that it brings for me and San Pietro.
